Diamond Anniversary Deluxe Edition

The Scrabble 60th Anniversary Deluxe Edition is a definite improvement over recent Hasbro boards despite the new color scheme. A full review with detailed pictures is posted at our club's blog, and prior to the board's release, a speculation about it was posted at this site.

Glass Signature Edition

Although probably too fragile for the typical tournament road warrior, the Scrabble Glass Signature Edition is notable for being Hasbro's first round Scrabble board and thus perhaps as highly anticipated as (though hopefully less anticlimactic than) Guns N' Roses' Chinese Democracy.

Deluxe Turntable Scrabble

The "deluxe" edition features a turntable for rotating the board and a raised plastic grid to deter sliding tiles.

The original Scrabble

The original Scrabble board, not much improved since its first incarnation in the 1950s.

Super Scrabble

With 200 letters, a huge playing field (21 by 21), and quadruple word and letter premium squares, Super Scrabble is a whole new way to play. (Note: Completing a game will take about two hours, so make sure your schedule is cleared before starting.)

The official word source for professional Scrabble players. Just words, no definitions.

The Official Scrabble Players Dictionary Fourth Edition

The only available Scrabble book with definitions, the OSPD4 contains most of the acceptable words between two and eight letters in length.

Word Freak by Stefan Fatsis

Brow-Raisers by Tony Rasch

Tony Rasch separates wheat from chaff in this unique word study guide. With a focus on important and obscure words, weird hooks, and finding patterns, this book will quickly raise your score and rating.

Timers

Excalibur II Game Timer

A fairly inexpensive timer which is acceptable for Scrabble and the one most often used at our club.

Saitek Competition Pro Game Clock III

Another inexpensive timer which purports to have a mode for Scrabble. However, none of our club members have used it. If you've used this timer and would like to share your experience or write a review, please contact us.

Saitek Competition Game Clock

Very similar to the Saitek Competition Pro III above, but bright blue. One of our club members reports this clock fails to display seconds until the time is below twenty minutes, but that shouldn't be a factor in most games.

Adjudicator 3000

This is another very popular quality timer from Gene Tyszka.

Tournament equipment

Protiles

The official tiles of tournament-level Scrabble. These tiles have a flush surface to prevent you from feeling whether or not you have a blank, and all Protiles come with a lifetime guarantee.

Scrabble board carrier

Ok, technically it's a Zildjian cymbal case. But with one of these, you can easily tote three complete games - including boards up to 22 inches in diameter, timers, tiles, and racks - in one package. And people might mistake you for a rock star.

Other gear

Franklin Scrabble Companion - SCR-228

A computerized anagramming machine to help you quickly in those "I know there's a play here somewhere" situations (though not while a game is in progress). And, it's pocket-sized - if you have fairly roomy pockets. Please note this is the SCR-228, which uses OSPD4 and OWL2 (if you know the secret code).
